Lifeguard Training Program - This program provides students with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MARCH 25, 2022

- POOL INSTRUCTION DATES: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, (2 wks) 4/5, 4/6, 4/12, (no class 4/13 –schools closed/holiday), 4/19. Time: 7:00 - 9:00pm. Location: High School Pool - East Wing.

- CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION DATES: Saturdays, (2 wks) 4/9,  (no class 4/16- schools closed/holiday), 4/23. Time 8:00am - 10:00am. Location: High School Room A137.

PREREQUISITES:

*Must be 15 years old by the end of the class. *Tread water for a minimum of 2 minutes.* Swim 150 yards of front crawl.* Swim 150 yards of breast stroke. * Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously* Tread water for 2 minutes only using legs * Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds * Starting in the water, swim 20 yards * surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object* Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point * Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Upon completion, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR and AED, and be able to work as a lifeguard at a facility with deep water.
